Beatrix, thank you!

Today is the day of the abdication of
Queen Beatrix. Now she has left the country
in the hands of her son Willem Alexander.

Of course I had to make a card
to thank prinses Beatrix for all the
33 years of her being our Queen.
This card is made with a text that one
could send to a special address for thanking Beatrix,
but i thought the card needs something extra.
So I glued the text to a new background.
The stars and stripes are washi paper strips.

The royal owl is made with the owl punch
by Stampin'Up! The eyes and the heart
are gemstones. Now my card is ready for sending!

Have a creative day!

Tim Holtz April Tag: King

Here is my April tag for Tim Holtz

Of course I gave it my own twist,
but using Tim's creative ideas
and techniques.

If you have been following my blog,
you know we have a special day tomorrow
in The Netherlands: the inauguration
of the new King Willem-Alexander.
A very big happening for our country.

So I gave the tag an orange metallic look.
Yes orange is the main color you will see
tomorrow. Everyone will be dressed
in orange tshirts, coats, hats, shawl, jeans.
It will be a colorful day!

So my tag is titled:
Time to be the King

On top you see the clock and the hand of the
clock is pointing towards the "W"coin
on the ribbon. The "W" is the first letter
of the new King's name.

The lions on both sides are stamped on
transparant plastic,so I could flip the
lion on the other side. The are both staples
to the tag (covered by the clock.

The 2 is on of Tim's metal numbers
c0vered with bronze, rusty hinges and
mustered seed distress paint.

The word is stamped on kraft paper
and made into a tag.

The crown is out of grunge paper,
covered with the same distress paint as
the tag and added  a little mahogany.
On top a few sticky orange gemstones.

Underneath the crown I used a few
tiles from a scrabble game
painted with distress gold paint.

For all the technique instructions
on how to work with the distress paint,
take a look at Tim's blog:

Sunday Scrap page: Reading

Theme for this weeks chronicles is: reading
and I could not resist to use
my favourite subject!

One cannot start young enough
to make children love reading.

For this page I used Club Scraps's
Spring Chorus and Michael Strong's
hexagon stamp.
I stamped the hexagon stamp with versamark
on yellow paper and embossed the stamp
with baby blue embossing powder.

I decorated the stamp with blue dots from
the Viva Decor blue pearl pen.
Only in the middle of the star I used a
sticky blue gemstone.

I Love Holland

The Netherlands is in a very festive mood
this weekend until Tuesday.
Today is the birthday of our crown prince Willem-Alexander
and he will be inaugurated as the new King on Tuesday.
So you can imagine all the orange
gadgets that can be found and
all the orange flags that are hanging everywhere.

Yes, orange is our national color,
next to the Dutch red white and blue.
This is because the Queens is
from The House of Orange.

These cards are made with a Technique Junkies technique
called Designer Paper Starbust
and is from the April/May 201 newsletter.

I used Michael Strong's  tulips and the mini heart stamps
with some scrapbook paper in the back.
The stamps are embossed in white on colored paper.

On both cards i used a few sticky gemstones to give the
cards some extra bling.
Have a creative day!

Club Scrap Spring Chorus Blog Hop

Here we are again with our monthly
blog hop and this time it is
Spring Chorus, the April kit.
I hope you came her after seeing
the beautiful craft of Tricia
on her blog HERE.
If you lose your way, you can always go back to
where all the blogs are listed.
I have an explosion box for you this time.
Spring usually is an explosion of
flowers, only this year it is still very
cold and all flowers are late.
So thanks for paper flowers!!
When you take of the lid of this box, you see layers of
paper, where you can add photo's amd i want to share
with you how to make this box.
You need 3 layers of paper:
1. 12x12 inch
2. 10,5 x 10,5 inch
3. 9 x 9 inch

and this is the lid made out of 8 x 8 inch paper.
The lid is scored all around at 2 inch.
And you can see where to cut, so you can
glue the border to make the lid fit the box.

Now how to score the papers:
1. score around at 4 inch
2. score at 3,5 inch
3. score at 3 inch
As you can see on the picture you have to cute out
4 of the square corner pieces.

Now you can start decorating:
This is the outside paper.
I used the stencil and light green acrylic paint.
I also stamped on it with white ink
and the musical notes UM stamp.

On the other side I made triangular pockets
out of the square corners I cut out of the
2nd layer.
The 2nd layer is decorated paper
and leav it like this for photo's.
The 3rd layer is stamped with 3 colors
of green and a sentiment.
When all layers are on top of each other,
the last layer is the one with the flowers.
For this you need a square of 2,75 x 2,75 inch.

For the flowers you need a transparent
plastic sheet: 4x 0.5 x 3,75 inch.
Fold half an inch on both ends. on top one way
and on the bottom the other way.

Make 4 slits with an exacto knife in the paper
square. Through these holes you fit the four
stems of the flowers.

For the flowers I used the cut outs that  came
with the kit. I samped musical notes on the
flowers with blue ink and yellow around the border.
The gemstones in the heart of the flower
also came with the kit.
Here a close up of the lid of the box.
The text is one of the stickers that came with the box.

Around the lid there are the ribbons and the jute.

Here you see the layers of the box.
The squares that were cut of the 3rd layer
are used as tags in the corner pockets.

Thanks so much for visiting my blog.
Hope you found some inspiration.

As this is a hop, I think it is time to move on
to Kay, who as onther great keepsake for you:

Have a creative day!

Royal Cards

In The Netherlands we are in for a special day
on April 30 2013.
Normally this is our Queen's Day.
We celebrate the birthday of  Queen Beatrix.
This year it is a total different day.
It will be Crowning Day.
Queen Beatrix will abdicate and
her son Willem-Alexander will be
our new King.

So I wrote to Paulette from Create with TLC
if she had an appropriate digital image.
And see what a wonderful
images she has HERE
I am totally in love with all these images
and you will see more of it!.
Here are the first two cards I made today.
This first card is colored with distress markers
and the crown is colored with gold stickles.
The card is finished of with an orange ribbon
and an orange flower.
Yes, orange is the Dutch color, because the Royal family
is from the House of Orange.
Here is the 2nd card and I just love
the sentiment.
This card is colored with pencil.
The crown is colored with a gold glitter pen.
Around the lion you see sticky gold and
blue gemstones.

THANK YOU
so much, Paulette,
for the wonderful images!

Have a creative day!

Sunday Scrap Page: Spring Cleaning

This weeks theme for
Club Scraps Weekly Chronicles
is: Spring Cleaning.
As we just pained our living room,
I think that count for a spring cleaning.

All papers are by Club Scrap
and they are from the Serenity Kit
September 2012.

The stamps I have used are the
tulips by Michael Strong.

I stamped them in versamark
and embossed it with
pearlescent ivory embossing powder.

For coloring the tulips I used two colors of distress ink:
 shabby shuttersand musterd seed.
The tulips looked so nice,
so I made some more and used
them for the April cardsketch

The sentiment on the card is by Club Scrap.

I cut out the tulips with the
matching metal die cut.
Want to know how to use the dies?
Take a look HERE for
a picture tutorial.

The tulips are decorated with yellow
gemstones. I used glossy accent
to glue them on.

Have a creative day!
